So the Brits are blaming the Americans and the Americans are blaming the Brits... for the 'Push present'

Supposedly, the push present is a husband to wife gift to say. 'Well done' on your new arrival.  Patronising and patriarchal or kinda sweet?

Did your husband or partner get anything for you when you brought your little one into the world?  Is the baby gift enough or do you need to mark the occasion with diamonds?

I didn't....but secretly wish I had (didn't mind if it was cheap and cheerful).  I pesonally see it as a bit of an American thing, along with the "Baby shower" concept.

Realistically, your partner has given you his gift in helping make the baby I guess, plus we did seem to be inundaed with gifts from long lost relatives.

So I think it would have been kind of sweet....but realistically unnecessary - a sparkly ring or him getting up in the middle of the night to help settle a crying baby.  I would go with the moral support   Smiley

I did not receive a "push present" nor did I think I should get one!  My husband gave me the gift of helping to create our son.  I gave him the gift of having our beautiful boy on Valentine's Day.  So, I think we are even  Wink
